Homelessness, Society and Hypocrisy

“No, I’m not giving money to the homeless, they’re going to buy alcohol with it…”

“No, I’m not giving money to the homeless, they’re going to buy alcohol with it… A meal, I’m fine with, but I’m not going to fund their addiction.”

The road to hell is paved with good intentions. But in its winding alleys, where the fallen dreams of a sickly society pile up, it’s easy to forget…

Reality.

Reality, in all its plurality. Realities, rich in diversity, devoid of equality. Our reality, when we hesitate to give a coin to a beggar, is nothing like his.

In the evening, the lights will come on in our living room. With our hands on a steaming cup of coffee, we’ll complain about the cold; when dinner is served, we’ll accompany it with mulled wine; we’ll rejoice at having saved this poor wretch from addiction, while satisfying our own.

Aren’t we doing the right thing here, balancing out our own sins? Isn’t it delightful to pat ourselves on the back for having protected our bank account from the unsustainable price of someone else’s addiction, saving enough money to finance our own alcoholism? Our personal addictions?

Especially the most fatal of all.

Hypocrisy. (we’re talking to you rich people)

A deadly affliction… for others. You, it has already destroyed all your Humanity. Or maybe you’ve given up on that voluntarily… We don’t know anymore. It’s like the snake biting its own tail, the chicken and the egg.

Ever since the birth of this marvellous (nope) invention called capitalism, we’ve been witnessing a systematic blaming of…

The poor.

Some will say, “It’s only natural to prey on the weak”. After all, carnivorous animals prey on isolated prey, separating them from the herd if necessary.
In the meantime, since we’re supposedly more intelligent than basic animals…
Why haven’t we revolutionized this system? If we humans are such incredible beings, why don’t we try to… progress?

Ordem e progresso: order and progress, the flag of Brazil. Order… to avoid progress?

When I was in Brazil, I was regularly treated to enlightened comments from the rich people around me. The “don’t talk to the homeless, they’re dangerous” were followed by the “frankly, they scare away the clientele, we should get them out of there” in a dazzling farandole of selfishness.

Back in France, the song resumed. “They just have to cross the street to find work” spat the President on TV, “why won’t you go slave away like we all do?” complained the poor-minded people in my TikTok comments. The people, since they’re imprisoned and egoistical, consider that you too should find yourself in the same mental prison as them. So the proud slaves of the CEOs came to show me their teeth…

Blaming, in passing, the famous “toothless” for their situation.

In modern, educated 2025, I somehow still have the displeasure of reading comments that breathe self-satisfaction, sweat egocentricity, and bleed out a remarkable lack of empathy.

Here’s a selection of what I can read on Twitter or hear on the streets:

“Frankly, you’ve got to stop saying there’s not enough work in France” (Christine, 35 years spent typing on a keyboard and stopping poors from receiving social safety nets)
“We’ve got everything in France, I don’t see what they’re complaining about” (Philippe, who has always had everything offered to him in France, following his parents’ enrichment during the 30 glorious years)
“If they didn’t take drugs, they wouldn’t be in such a bad situation…” (Géraldine, 50, whose son takes lines of coke in work meetings all day long… But “it’s different, it’s for work!”)
“Refugees should stay at home instead of coming here… They’d be in less trouble! They only come to steal everything from us…” (Jean-Charles, who has never met a refugee in his life)
“Unemployed people, they’re all lazy!” (Léon, restaurant owner looking to hire slaves… uh, salaried workers earning a third of the minimum wage to work 12 hours a day)

At this point, it’s worth remembering that, with an average IQ of 97 points, France is ranked 30th in the world in terms of intelligence. Which is not good, in itself. The average is not an ideal to be attained; 10/20 is just that… Average. “A passing grade”, absolutely not to be something to take pride in.

We have an intellectually limited mass… And, apparently, that’s acceptable.

It’s acceptable… By whom? Who’s encouraging a race to the bottom in our schools, with diplomas literally handed out on the assembly line? Who is pushing for an increase in the number of working years, thus limiting the time available for real education, reading and learning? Who the fuck blames the dumbing-down of the population by social networks… without doing anything to limit its expansion?

Yes, damn it. WHO benefits from hypocrisy, and has made it their business, by INVENTING the capitalistic system?

Here’s a hint: it’s not the homeless, who are dying of cold and hunger, but thankfully not from drugs.

Rather… isn’t it this same bitch and her 300-buck heels, who “won’t finance the homeless’ addictions”… because she has her own to finance?

With your money, my dear little silent mass?

You see, I don’t blame the poor. Firstly, because I’m one of them; but more importantly, because I know where the real monsters are.

And the monsters aren’t just the raging bitches armed with their children-killing Louboutins.

It’s not only Macron, Trump, Musk and their whole cliques of egotists, soulless men cocked up to the hilt.

It’s also you, who, for one more day, will voluntarily ignore the homeless and the poor. Yes, you’ve always been trained to be selfish. But if you refuse to look at the issue and question yourselves, that makes you a self-serving, narrow-minded asshole. It makes you proud idiots.

And that is your fault.
